Clemilson Berto Junior holds a degree in Pharmacy from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and a Master's in Pharmacology and Medicinal Chemistry from the Laboratory for Evaluation and Synthesis of Bioactive Substances (LASSBio) through the Graduate Program in Pharmacology and Medicinal Chemistry at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences, UFRJ. He obtained his Ph.D. in Sciences from the Graduate Program in Endocrinology at the Faculty of Medicine, UFRJ. He was a NIH fellow and a Post-doctoral Research Associate at the Center for Sickle Cell Disease (Howard University Hospital) at Howard University. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy, UFRJ-Macaé, where he teaches fundamental hematology and clinical hematology. He is a junior member of the European Hematology Association (EHA), an international member of the American Society of Hematology (ASH), supervises in the Graduate Program in Endocrinology at the Faculty of Medicine, UFRJ, and is a consultant for the Sickle Cell Disease program in the municipality of Macaé. Since March 2020, he has volunteered as a science consultant for the non-profit program Favela sem Corona. He has experience in pharmacological evaluation (biochemical and molecular pharmacodynamics), sickle cell disease, and hematology. He has been recognized as a Young Scientist of Our State (JCNE) since 2023.
